Fishing in trees
I will be fishing in a lake that has a lot of dead trees standing in it and was wondering what you guys thought would be the best artificial bait to use. I am a firm believer of buzzbaits but i would like to try something new. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Spinnerbaits, crankbaits, rattle traps. You want the bait to bounce off from cover as it is fished.A trap is great, because you can count it down to different depths and figure out where the fish are holding. If you have to buy a ratl trap for this purpose, Buy a Spro aruka ? I am not sure the last name is right, but its close. This trap runs nose down and deflects better than any other trap I have used. P N J

http://www.landbigfish.com/tacklesto...e.cfm?PID=3680 Here is what they look like.I bought mine from a local Gander Mountain store. They were a $4.99 in price there. It might pay to compare prices before buying. P N J

I would drop Uncle Sinko's in them for sure. Probably crank through them with some bluegill patterns. Definitely keeps some jigs handy. And a lizard, t-rigged with a weight that gets it down through the branchs. You can run a spinnerbait through there.

WILSON,
It would depend on what depth the water is. If it is under 10 ft, I would fish either a Senko type bait,(6 to 10 ft) a 7 inch worm with a 1/16 to 1/8 oz weight,(3 to 7 ft) or a wacky worm with a small nail in the tail(2 to 5 ft.) Over 10 ft, I would fish a jig or a Colorado blade spinnerbait slow rolled across the bottom. JackL

As Jackl said, definitely try some type of trick worm or soft jerkbait. Flukes are great as well.

I'm a big fan of the jig-n-pig in the trees. I fish them on braid, throw them over the tree and pull it back through the branches.
