Default flouro breaking..

i have been trying the new p-line "halo" florocarbon line in 15 pound test. has any one ever had floro splinter?? i had it break during a cast. luckily i kept my thumb on the reel. but had to pull a sliver of mist green halo out of my thumb. the floro had 3 long splinters where it broke. no kink or knick near by that i could see..

has any one had problem with floro??

I have been trying out Vanish.....it was given to me and figured I would test it out. I have been warned and was careful with it so far. I noticed if it runs up against any rocks or structure it starts splintering. It has not broken on me yet because I always cut it out when it happens. I have not had it happen with P-Line Fluoroclear (not 100%) though.

I am not at all a fan of fluoro line. I tried some, and will continue to use my copolymer from now on

Earlier this season, I tried the P-Line Fluoro (12 lb test). I have liked it so far although I had to down grade to 8 lb test because of the size of my reel. I have not had it splinter like that before. I would have to agree with Mack and say that you probably got a bad spool. I would try complaining to P Line....you may get some free stuff. I had that happen with a bait company and they sent me 2 extra bags of free baits. Maybe you could turn this negative into a positive.

BTL and I went to BPS to pick up some Halo, and they where all out, so we decided to try some Pline Xtra tough.....I'm very impressed with it so far. We landed alot of nice bass using it on Sunday. We pulled big bass thru fresh lilly pads with no break offs. Another nice thing I noticed is very little memory. The line is yellowish/green color and very hard to break. I suggest you give it a try and see what you think. I am going to go back and get some more if I can't find it locally.

I've used XPS flouro (17lb) for several years now. I love it. Landed lots of big fish in heavy, heavy cover with it. I use it as a leader on all my plastic applications and as mainline for all my cranking. Granted i don't fish much rock here in south arkansas, but i fish alot of wood.

No you didn't any spool of that stuff will do the same thing!! JUNK as far as floro goes!!

Zooker did it break at the knot? Reason I ask is when tying a knot with floro of any kind you have to use a special term know as "slobber"!!! LOL and lots of it, make sure you keep the line including the loops before you tighten it up really really wet!!! Try that!

the thing is most peoples opinion of vanish was formed before they changed the formula.the first vanish was horrendous.the formula changed approx 2 years ago.a lot of the old stuff was probably still around.

You don't get a second chance to make a first impression, though

This happened to me with P-Line CX. I've seen little knicks on Fluro before... I'm assuming that's what your calling "splinters". My opinion is that the Stren Fluoro was the best (of course now they don't make it anymore). The next closest I've found is the XPS Fluoro. I've tried Seagar, Vanish and Transition (both are trash to me. I used it a few years ago though but that's the impression I'm left with and I don't trust it with money on the line (no pun intended! LOL)) and the XPS seems to be the most abrasion resistant and strongest. I have a tournament May 5th and the XPS Fluro is going on my reels for it!

BassAddict,
I like to use Stren Flouro. Still have some left (thanks to Ebay).
The bulk spools are the only way to go.

I never had it happen with P-Line's normal Floro. I do have 2 spools of Halo and plan on filling up tomorrow since opening day is next weekend up here so I will let you know how Halo works for me.
