A silver buddy jigged around primary points. A white tube with a 3/4 oz.cordell spoon inserted in the tube. That or a white Pork-O strip on a weedless hook for a slower presentation.Don't be suprised when you boat alot of lake trout off from the points when fishing for bass. P N J

i don't like plastic's in cold water-under 50 degrees- i even switch from the stien to a hammering hare spinner bait. a pnj with a #11 pork skin. a dardevil/west river spoon i tip 1 hook with a white pork eel strip.johnson silver minnow with white pork eel strip. why cause like pnj said i used to catch trout on it off main lake points and a ton of bass. we only lived 45 miles apart at one time....long long ago...

i also do not like plastics in below 45 degree water, i almost always switch to jigs, black/blue, black red with a plastic trailer have worked good during those winter months here in Ohio.

I mainly dropshot in cold weather because from the bank you really can't fish for winter bass and keep the bait in their face long enought without moving the bait out of the strike zone.

Our winter aren't as cold as your but still the water drops into the 40's

I normally use a watermelon fluke or tube on a T-rig. I have been told they like to go for very big and slow moving baits. like a big wild thing as well. can any one comment on that?

was about to ask if they had bass in S.Africa, then I saw your sig., lol.
Yes, slow moving because their metabolism will be low, less energy, and big baits so they can keep their weight up.

Ya Zook I know it is tough getting info when everything is out of sinc!!

works well if I read my Bassmaster magazine about 3 months late

Funny you should say that bout that beaver. Trtied them for the first time yesterday and gotta tell ya I was impressed with the bite. Didnt do any comparison test ie....using a brush hog and a beaver to see if there was any difference in the bite ratio but I did get my fair share of bites on the beaver.

As far as plastics in the colder water I use plastics till it gets to around 50 or so in the water temp then go back to pork due to increased action because plastics get stiffer in cold water and pork isnt as affected. And I might add I dont use Uncle josh porks have been using Super Pork for 15years now and wont throw anything else. Better quality, easier to take off of hook, more available colors and did I mention THEY CATCH FISH.
