thats more than likely what happened (brain thing), it has happend to me before with a small 14" bass that picked up a brush hog with a 5/0 hook and i slammed it and it died instantly! Sad but True!

Last Year I Caught A Smallie On A Spinnerbait With A Trailer Hook. The Main Hook Came Right Between Its Eyes And The Trailer Hook Was Almost In Its Gut. I Dont Know How I Missed The Brain I Had A Heck Of A Time Getting That Thing Unhooked. Lol. Because The Front Hook Penetrated So Much Bone And The Trailer Hook Made It So I Couldnt Push It Backwards. But The Fish Lived Could Have Sworn It Hit Its Brain.
