Default Fenwick 6'10'' MH MF rod

Hi folks!
It's my 1st post here, so the story is I got my 1st cheap rod a year ago(spinning for float + live bait) , and I'm hooked, now decided to buy some bait casters...and learn casting on backyard before the season for pike and Sm.

I bought the Fenwick 6'10'' MH MF rod.....I know it's for crankbaits...but the question is it will work good with spinners, jigs? (I'm new to fishing)...will put on it Curado G series.

(as well bought St Croix Avid 7' M F with Chronarch ...will it work with t-rigs?)

Thank you.

St. Croix rods typically fish about 1 power heavier than they are rated, (as compared to similar brands). Fish your T-rigs and jigs on the 7' M/F and the Fenwick will work good with anything that has a trebble type hook. I would throw medium heavy spinnerbaits 3/8 oz on the St. Croix and any lighter on the Fenwick.

Good Luck.

If what Tav said is right, the it sounds like the Avid should do very well for texas rigs.

I think the 6'10" MH should do well for treble baits and spinnerbaits as well.

Let us know if you've got any other questions!

What line would you suggest for those rods? right now I have cheap mono 17 lb for a practice purposes (my 1 st bait casters).
thought braid 30-50 lb and fluro leader would be ok.

Thank you.

My suggestion is get yourself some good co-poly and a little KVD line a lure until you have some time on the water with your new reel. Using a lighter line like a 12# test will make things a little easier also.

After you have confidence in your ability to cast without backlashing, buy a higher quality line. It sucks to have to cut 20 dollar line off your spool.

I'll let these folks guide you on what to use whe and do a good job of it.
I would like to greet you and say welcome to the sight!
Lots of knowleedge and lots of fun!
Now my only real suggestion on learning baitcasting is to view Kevins video on the thumb technique for getting out backlashes.
It will save you patience, money (replacing damaged line) and probably a lure or two. It's amazing how easy and effective it is. If it doesn't work the first press and spool, just do it again and again till knot frees. I have never had to cut a backlash out since learning this years ago. Good video by the site owner under Videos on the home page.
