I've been having some good luck using a 1/2 jig. I'll cast it over some submerged weeds, and let it settle down in there, than violently jerking it out, letting it settle back in. Make sure you watch your line good, other wise you'll miss a few bites. I like a big bulky action packed trailer for this (for example the rage tail craw), slightly slower fall.
Colors? Black and blue! Never had any luck with that color other than using it like that. btw, where in florida are you? I live in florida too, and my be able to give you a few spots.

Toads, frogs, buzzbaits. Add the jitterbug to that list. See a pattern? Follow that up with plastics.

During the recent weeks my go to lure has been a 7" power worm. Flukes and senkos would be next on the list.

Lately, it has definitely been a 5" senko rigged wacky with no weight. I have done well with both watermelon and rootbeer smoke w/ copper and green flakes.

Baby Bass colored plastic jerkbait from Gander Mtn. I use the 3 1/2"
http://www.gandermountain.com/modper...F&merchID=4006 Works great in the shallower weedy lakes in MI that I tend to fish, and I can fish it fast, slow, or anywhere in between. I've caught more bass with this lure than all my other lures combined. -Kurt |

For me it has been crankbaits, mostly deep. Running them near the bottom or a few feet above it. That and a 10" Ol' Monster Zoom worm in Green Pumpkin. I also always make the last 1" of the tail chartreuse with a Spike-It marker or dip. I might try the 12" Larew El Salto worms next time out. In Michigan last summer it was a frog and a 5" Sicko (stick worm) but there's not many pads around here and I really can't seem to get bit on a stick worm.

I get good late strikes from my 4 inch husky jerk in fire tiger. Worms on a T-rig are always a favorite.

I rarely fail to at least get a hit on worms. I would try swimbaits in bright neon colors too. Firetiger, chartreuse, etc.

They say the bigger the bait the bigger the fish, but I like them in smaller sizes, 4" and under. I have not had had much luck with bigger ones around here. I have caught some pretty big fish with the 2" swimbaits, and I briefly hooked a huge bass on a 1" swimbait. Creme has a good paddle tail type called the Spoiler Shad that they sell at Wal-mart. I also Like the Storm Wild Eye Rippin' Swimbaits. And for crazy action, it's hard to beat a zoom fluke. In fact my current favorite lure is the Lit'l Fishie swimbait from Creme. This is the little 1" lure that I hooked up with a big bass on. They come in sizes up to 3 1/2", but I like the tiny one the best. They are hard to find in stores, so I have been ordering them from the website.

Big bait big fish is a great concept when they are actively feeding, but when they go into finesse mode... small is the key... a good alternative to small swimbaits is simply putting a 3" curl tail grub on a jig head and swimmin it...

I totally agree! A white curl tail grub can be deadly. I always make sure I have a pack of white curl tails and black jigheads close by. Great action!
