To get the true shape of the hump....
Let's say the hump pictured goes from 8 feet at the top to 25 feet deep at the beginning and ending. One way is to keep your depth at 12 feet and use markers as you go around the hump. Then study the shape after you have gone around the hump. Do this once more, keeping the depth at a constant 16 feet.....this will tell you if the hump is flattening out in one direction or another as you watch your markers or put out new ones. This is also a good way to find little dents and inlets on the basic shape....meaning you had to turn the boat in and out to follow the depth selected. In a sense, you are using your boat to carve out the shape below you. I've seen this done on video, and hope I've explained it clearly. Good fishing, Mac

I see your bow-mount depthfiner on the new boat is an Eagle Magna View, 144. They are not the nicest if you ask me.... Why do you think we changed units?

It was the only unit on the boat, but he bought a humming bird for the console and moved the eagle up front. We're looking at better ones to put in front. I was thinking about the 585c or maybe something with a gps and move the other to the front.
