What do ya think the bass are doing?
I'm really stumped here guys!? The weather has been very warm.. 80's and into the 90's. So naturally the water has been warm too. But yesterday the air temps dropped 30 some odd degrees. No blue bird skys, and the water was still warm, but fishing still wasn't very good.
Last night it was cold again down into the 40's, and we got about a 1/4 inch of rain. That rain undoubted cooled the water down. How much, I don't know. Right now it's still cloudy, and just drizzling on and off. and a high of 52. Not really sure what to throw today. Weeds are plentiful and the lake is shallow. As you guys know I'm shore bound. So what do you think the fish are doing, and what ya think I should throw? I'm thinking a drop shot wacky senko around the deep(er) weedlines where the water temp has hopefully not changed much. And maybe a Shaky head if the does not produce. Other then that I'm pretty clueless. Any help is appreciated guys!

Sammy,
The 1/4" of rain won't impact your water immediately. The run off will actually cool it more. What stage are your bass in up there in WI. Have they spawned yet? If so, how recently. Figure out where they are in the mating cycle before you focus on what today's weather has done. The front may change their activity, but I don't think it will change their location that much.

Post spawn right now cass. Pretty recently too, they probably got off the beds a week or two ago.
I tried the drop shot too, I got 3 bites and missed each one, I think they might have been bream though.

If I had to take a guess, I'd say they're swimming around in the water.

They are watchin Bill Dance blooper videos and laughing their bass fanies off. I'd be trying a weightless t rigged lizard and a soft swim bait. And of course, I'm gonna throw a spinnerbait. I'm sure you know that about me by now. hahaha

They don't even know I'm there. It's the birds in the trees that are laughing at ME.

Okay, off the beds for a week or two tells me that there are likely some late spawners still moving in. Sometimes these late guys will spawn a little deeper. Post spawn tells me to use a spinnerbait and crank. The ladies are looking to eat. The males are in fry guarding mode and sometimes these faster moving baits will trigger a bite out of protection instinct. I would also look to the trees, weeds. When recovering, they want a good ambush site to get a filling meal.

I donīt have to think what the bass are doing, I know what they do, they are doing what they always do ..... having a laugh at our expense while we try to figure out how they are frustrating anglers, something they are really good at.

Try for a reaction strike, with lot of weeds, burn a yum money hound in the morning. Also try finding deep points and burn a fluke, swimbait or any baitfish imitating lure. Remember, "reaction strike " good luck
