Update on the VIP
Hey Guys,
Back before summer I did an engine change to a Mariner 115.Motor would run fine except for idle.Did the seafoam thing and it lined right out. Still have to gasser up on plane slow or it bogs a little. Main problem right now is its pulling hard to the right. Which way do you adjust the tab to get her back on center? |

Sacrafical tab should be straight. Adjusting the tab left or right will affect the removal of air in your prop wash. Could be really bad on rough water.
Pulls to right is normal with a big pitch blade. Capt Mike

I understand some pull is expected but this is real excessive. Even on plane at full speed. Dont think this is normal. Anyone have an idea on how to decrease the pull to an acceptable level?

Cable steered boat will pull like crazy with a big pitch prop. Go to a four blade or change streering to hydraulic.. Capt Mike

Pulling to the right is normal for big pitch props. You can alleviate some of this by adjusting the tab to the left. Thats what it is there for.

Check the lower skeg, mine is bent ever so slightly and I have a severe R pull. Not bad when I want to turn but the hands free driving is gone.
