Production poll.
Laser's jig thread and RodmanRobs response got me curious. What is everyones overall leading fish producer?
I put this to a poll and had to combine some of the options because I was only allowed 10 voting options. I did leave an "other" option in case I forgot something. |

I'm betting on plastics is the overall favorite, but for me it changes almost every year, for instance one year its the popR, the next the rattletrap, last year it was the spook, and tiki sticks, I'll go out on a limb this year so far its the horney toad.whats yours?

Honestly JB this year it's been the Senko put thats only because I beeen throwing the heck out of it. I'm sure there were days that I could have done better with other baits but I'm trying to nail down the fine points
I chose the jig because year in and out I put alot of fish in the boat with them. |

I think the water clearity will have some bearing on your pole, plus the new products on the market may come into play, at least for me, last year I had never even heard of a senko, and after trying the tiki sticks, they soon became a fav in my arsenal..this year I've only thrown the wave lizards, trying to mix up my game a little.

Like JB, I first started using tiki sticks last year. From the start, I was hooked. I also started using hard jerkbaits this past winter. They worked well for me. So for now, jerkabaits are my go to lures. In order of favorites is jerkbaits, plastics, lipless cranks, spinners, cranks, all types of jigs, topwaters.

I put a senko-actually a Tiki Stick or a Yum Dinger-but a crankbait runs a real close second.

What if Laser is right ? What does he win ?A Lucy inflatable doll with a embroidered patch for his fishing vest that says I love Lucy ? Laser, she was a redhead right ? All we had was black and white T.V. until in the 80's. Maybe thats the reason for me being color blind.....Roflmao. P N J

now if the question was which lure is most fun the answer has gotta be anything topwater, nothing like a bucketmouth smashing the surface of the water.

Little surprise to me that the jig is on top. Reason being I have yet to go somewhere and not have a jig tied on. I dont care where I am at or what the conditions are the jig WILL produce at least one bite, saying it that way cause that 1 bite may not produce a fish because of my lack of knowing its a bite or missing it. This year has been a great experience for me due to the fact that I am a better shallow fisherman than deep. I like to SEE something I am throwing at, not saying that I dont fish deep cause I do. I just have the mental attitude that when I am throwing at something I feel better. I use to fish shallow exclusively and did fairly well. Deep water tatics take alot of time to hone. The frog baits and the jigs are kickin arse for me this year.

I said spinnerbaits, but just cause that seems to have been the ticket for me this year. I normally rely a lot of flukes, but I think I got a little too dependent on them. As far as jigs, for me they are very consistant, but they never really produce a strong pattern. Thats more an artifact of how I have not yet learned to rely on them heavily.

Year after year the basic plastic worm has been my top producer. The funny thing is, I started off fishing 4" finesse worms mostly, moved to 6" and now fish 7.5" inch texas-rigged worms with even more success. Who knows... I might throw a 15" in 5 years. Worms, you can't beat em.
