Default Tough Fishing

Lately the fish seem deep and inactive. I was catching fifteen or so fish a Day with three or four keeps A month ago...but now am only catching 4 or 5 and one good keeper in the last three weeks. I see mostly stuff in deeper water yesterday sitting in 15 to 20 ft. watter at 15' to 25' depth of water. I didn't seen any thing out in 30ft' of watter...or from 15' shallower . The fish we caught were shallow. Anyone got any ideas where I could find a concentration of keepers? I threw a deep diving fat free shad and covered the water where I did see fish/ baitfish and other's. The sonar is too crappy to tell what species was down there other than the obvious bait balls. Didn't get a strike though. We didn't catch a thing or even get a bite untill we started fishing the shallower weed lines. Mostly on jig and trailer. I caught two small ones on a chrome/blue back bomber 7a. Nothing on anything else...but they were damn near swallowing the jig. Was a long time between bites too. Anybody got any ideas?

Basstech, Its just a thought but, go to a weighless senko or worm around the weed areas.Look for anything different, like a weed patch that extends out from the reular line, weeds outside of the regular weedline, weeds that are on primary points, look on the inside bend of the weedline off the points.Did you feel the gripper teeth ? if they were sharp , the bass are primarily feeding on baitfish, but if they are dull, they are on a good craw feed.change up the weight of the jig, and the trailer profile, experiment and see if it makes a noticable difference.Alot of times the bass have got to get to the jig, so allow them time to get to it before the retrieve.Same with the weightless worm or senko, it may seem slower , but you can actually catch alot of fish in a hurry with them.I hope this helps. yeah during the fall when water temps start to drop bass will burrow in the thick weeds as they rot down they produce heat. kind like a mini hot hole.

Okay,

I am from St. Louis so we got similar wheather going on and I have struggled this weekend a little I went from 40 fish a day to 16 or so today and I think it is getting colder so they are done feeding really heavly which went on last week. I think the bite will be slowing down as the water temp drops and I suggest you hit as manly spots as possible in search of active fish. That's what I have been doing and come back to areas that produce. Fish deeper water or breaks next too the areas you where catching them shallow. I suggest a rattle trap, or t riged worm or tubes for best results in the areas. Make sure your rattle trap is ticking the bottom.

Carolina rig a floating crankbait and work it slower, with dragging it and some smaller jerks of the rod. It will get your bait in front of them longer, and still matches the baitfish.
