Default My final day for 2010

Today, Sunday 10-10-10 was the last day this year out on the boat. Winter is just around the corner and I need the remaining decent weekeds to get things ready for freeze up. I only caught two today which helps to put the boat away I suppose. Harder to do when they are tearin it up! I've loaded several pics from today for you to enjoy. I know I did, even if my last bass of 2010 wasn't much bigger than the popper I caught him on, hahaha.

Wonderful photos, Keithdog! I didn't realize it gets cold so early in Indiana. Should have at least one more month here before it gets too cold (for me) to fish. Some guys in this area fish year round, but I'm just not that hearty anymore. Anyways we hope you will continue to join us here as the winter proceeds.

Hey Keith, nice pics! We just closed for the season a week ago, so 10/2 was my last day in the boat for this year. The boat has been winterized and stored and the dock and lift have been pulled out of the water, so that closes out another fantastic year of fishing and memories for us up at the lake. I'll get my final fish of the year pics and recap of the year put up in a new thread when I get time.

Hope you had a great year on the water also!

I don’t know how you guys can put the boats away. It would take some getting used to by me. I have always lived in the sunbelt. Florida and Nevada. But you sure have some beautiful country to enjoy. I would suppose it’s worth it.

Technically, bass season here in MN is open until 2/27/11, at which point it's closed until 5/28/11. The "season" I was referring to was "cabin season," which is when many of us southern MN-ers trek several hours north to lakes that are clear, and where there is a little peace and solitude when compared to living in/near the Twin Cities. I don't ice fish much, though, and when I do it's not for bass, so for all intents and purposes, my bass season is over also. I'm probably one of the few around here who look forward to winter. I enjoy the change of seasons around here even though it means no open water fishing.

Boats don't work as well on ice as they do on open water.

Actually, I could still hit the water for another month if I wanted too, but snow has started to fly by the end of october for the last few years and so I'm going to be getting other things done that I can only really do on weekends. Like patchin the roof, yard cleanup, stacking firewood, and on and on. Plus this is a great camera season with the changing fall colors.

Have convinced my Dad not to winterize his boat this year... Gonna try Jig'n'Pigs and Jerk Baits for Smallies all winter on Dale Hollow, Cumberland, and Barren

Yeah, I know you were joking. I was just trying to clarify my one answer a little bit and also joking back with the second part.

Ditto for me here, Keith. Plus, our cabin/boat is up on a lake 4.5 hours from here, so we can't be as picky as we might like to be about when we close up for the year. Less than 9 years until I'm retirement eligible, however. . .

OH HERE IS A CONUMBRUM. My wife has told me to wait at least another week and go back out this comming weekend! She's telling me she thinks it's too early and I should get in at least another days worth of fishing. Dang that woman!!!! haha Now I don't know what to do. I think she's wanting another fried bass dinner, haha. But I know I need to take advantage of the few good weather weekends to get things done. Just when I think I have a plan she goes and messes it up by encouraging me to go bass fishing. Sheesh!!!
