nc/sc fishing
i know this isnt the best time of the year to fish but ive been to lake jocasee (south carolina) and lake keowee (south carolina) 4 times in the past five weeks (twice each) but the bass fishing is very unconsistent over there. at keowee we caught 3 small spotted bass and 2 tiny smallmouth. at jocasee weve only caught one smallmouth total. they were all with plasic worms. this is the worst fishing ive ever experienced. i live in asheville which is in western north carolina. i was wonderin if anyone has had any luck at lakes in western-middle nc area or the eastern sc area. we are depserate for bass

First of all, i think you just need to become a more examining fisherman. ive fished jocassee twice in the past month and have caught a total of 13 largemouth off the shore. try something new for instance, drop the plastics if they arent biting and go for something with a little more pizazz, like a shiny spoon(little cleo, solid gold, 1/4 oz.) or a spinner bait with large gold or silver blades. this should get the fishes attention. if they dont respond to this, try a rat l trap , maybe its vibration they want not sight feeding. good luck matt.
