Thumbs up Flashing Lures?

Hi...I went fishing with a lure this past summer that seemed to do ok for me. I caught two huge walleye and a large mouth bass on my day. (everyone else caught nothing so I felt kind of good about my catches).

Anyway, I used something that I bought online called an Alure Strobe Lure. Has anyone else used it...? I lent it to a buddy of mine and he did not catch anything so I want to know if my success is an isolated incident. I got mine at luredepotdirect.com. I have seen it in a few stores lately so I thought they might be catching on now. Let me know...I am going to try it out again this summer and see.

Could be an isolated incident, could not be. Lures are funny in the way that they will catch the heck out of bass one day, but not get a single bite the next. Bass can be very picky when it comes to lures. Sometimes you can change to an identical lure that you have on, but a different color and the bass will hammer it as if they have never seen it before. Why do you think lures are sold in all different colors? Just give it a shot and see what you come up with. The worst thing that could happen is you come back here and post what you are doing wrong. Which is what everybody else does when they don't catch anything on a trip.

Thank you for your reply...I hear ya about the colors...just wondering if anyone has used the LED lighted lure...in theory you would think it would work wonders...like I was saying in my "fish tale" it worked for me, but not my friend...just wondering if anyone else has had luck with these lit lures...

I think fish that readily hit artificial lures, such as the bass and walleye that you mention, will hit just about anything at one time or another. If you have confidence in this lure, by all means keep using it and see if you can tell how it stacks up against other lures.

It would be difficult to determine if the lights had anything to do with it or not. The fish have never had a problem finding lures without lights and the prey that they catch don't have flashing lights, thus the difficulty in determining the reason they strike this lure.

Default Again...thanks

thank you again for all of your input...I do agree with the live fish do not have a flashing light in them...the box states that the light simulates an injured bait fish, or light flashing off the gills...do you think there is any merit to this...If it sounds like I am fishing here, it is becuase I am trying to solve a bet with my friend...

When I was 13, I was fishing with an older, more experienced fisherman, that I'd just met on the water that day. He said to met that at that time of year a bass will hit a dandelion (bass on beds). I laughed, and he seemed to think he should prove his point. Sure enough, he threw a dandelion w/ no hook and a 3 lb. largemouth blew up on it.

I saw a few anglers fishing those LED lures and getting very frustrated watching kids nail big bass on spinnerbaits. I've been reluctant to use them.

However for fishing at night I love painting cranks and rattling liples baits with glow-in-the dark nail polish. So that may be the time to fish those LED lighted lures.

Perhaps it is better for night fishing...when I caught the fish that I caught it was in the middle of the afternoon...but it was murky water.

This is what I found on this.

ADDITIONAL INFO
Strobe Lure
This high-tech crankbait has a built-in red light that flashes at two-second intervals or when activated by the angler. It’s designed to be fished at night, in extremely muddy water or in deep water with little light penetration, and the battery in each lure is guaranteed for 1,000 hours of fishing time. The Strobe Lure is available in four models for fishing from top to bottom. ($29.95 for a set of lures; Alure Sales, 424 Penetanguishene Road, RR#1, Barrie, Onatario, Canada L4M 4Y8;
Phone: 705-812-0886 Quick Tip
SLOW TROLLING When you’ve given visible covers your best shots, try drift-trolling by them—the slower, the better. Use a Carolina rig with a floater lure a foot above the sinker so it will hover over bottom. Intermittently lift the rod tip sharply to make the lure dart as if it is afraid of being eaten.

I am thinking he is from Barrie. That lure must be a local thing, because it ain't a well known item.

In saying that, is this guy a spammer ?

Its a no brainer that one caught fish with it and another person didn't. Its all about knowing where and when and how to apply the crankbait selection to the waters you are fishing. The activity level of the fish has alot to do with the catch ratio of crankbaits.

Hi again...I am from Barrie...did get them local...and no...not a "spammer"...I was not the one who gave out contact info on the company...I am not offended by the comment...just wanted to clear it up so I didn't get a bad name on the site...as you can probably tell I am not a "seasoned" fisherman, so what would seem obvious to you guys, is not as obvious to me...but thanks for all the advice...I will keep posting...this is good stuff

Well shyt, I have seen those blinking lures somewhere before? If you want to fish here in NY , your more than welcome to, I can be to 11 different lakes within 45 minutes from my home.I cannot get across the Canadian border, My wife and I bought a trip to go to the turning stone.I could not go because I have a history of multiple assault charges from my younger daze. I am not Felony convicted, but they still wouldn't let me through to gamble. I am sure they're not going to let me fish there either. They may physically keep me from being there, but my Algonquian/Sauk heritage may let my spirit roam throughout the area as I sleep. Roflmao.... P N J
