Default Kahle hooks, any advantages?

For plastic baits does a Kahle hook have any benefits over other kinds of hooks?
What style hooks do you folks use for hookin up plastic baits?

A Kahle hook is a wide gap hook, it's a trade name from Eagle Claw. Some people prefer them to straight or offset shank hooks, I prefer an offset for most things, personally. Try a few styles, see which one suits your fishing style, then make your own decision based on your findings.

It is a wide gap hook, it's just different terminology used by different manufacturers.

From the internet, so you know it's true!!

"The Eagle Claw Kahle hook is equivalent to the Mustad Wide Gap, which is different from the Eagle Claw Wide Gap."

A kahle hook is a common hook used by many bait fishermen , especially those who fish for bullheads and catfish. This type of hook is similar to the circle hook, but the 2 styles differ very much in catching fish. The circle hook the point is directed back towards the shank of the hook, while the Kahle point is directed back towards the eye. The point direction of the Kahle hook gives you a wider gap, allowing you to gut hook a fish where the circle hook , will usually hook on the jaw of the fish.Circle hooks have a very low mortality rate, while the Kahle may perhaps have the highest mortalitly rate of any hook style. I hope this helps, P N J
