help with leaking rivits
I have a problem with my boat. I guess maybe because it is old. The rivits are losing their hold. The tops or whatever on the outside are coming off. Is there any type of product to use to seal them? Or do they sell replacement rivits?

JB's right. Sand around the edges and drop some on. I usually smooth it down some, holds for a good long time.

I've been using the same johnboat for over 20 years, and working in the steel biz I always have access to steel I beams that are just about any size you can imagine. I'd take a foot long section of 4 inch I beam and weld a round to it, to make a anchor out of it, but a few rough waves knocked the boat around, and the I beam anchor would flop around the deck till it hit the side of the aluminum V haul, piercing it...I got a tube of grey silicon silastic and applied to the inside and out, and its held forever.
The trick is to get the aluminum clean before applying |

Well I used the JBWeld on my boat. Did about 16 rivets. Worked great. No leaks at all. Thanks for sharing guys.

got jb weld on mine too, has held up for some time. you can also have it re-rivvited. if you weld, be very careful, some aluminum is too thin to be welding.
