Default Thanks for the memories

We took Pepper for that final trip to the vet today. Its heartbreaking. I had said that I wouldn't be sad but happy because when we rescued her in 2000 she was on her last day in a kill shelter in NY and we gave her 13 more years of life, but now that I have had some time to think about her, she gave us 13 great years of her life. She was 16 years old.

This my favorite picture. She is the one on the left.

Sorry to hear that Ron, but 16 years is good for a dog and 13 with you was a BONUS in more ways than just time. She was lucky you found her, and I think so were you.

Hate to hear that, Ron. We had to put our blond lab that was 15 last year and I have a 15+ year old terrier mix that is heading that direction. I know the hurt you are feeling. God got another good dog.

Really sorry to hear about that, lash.
I've never had to make that trip to the vet, but I can certainly imagine how tough it must be. No matter what, it's tough to lose a pet

Looks like she had a long happy life 'lash!

Loosing a good dog is tough, especially when you loved em as much as I know you did!

My heart aches for you, Ron, and I have tears in my eyes and a big lump in my throat as I type this. It's been about 10 weeks since we had to say good-bye to Lucky and the hurt can still surface pretty easily at times like this. May God bless you for rescuing her like that and giving her 13 more wonderful years. I know she had a great home with you and loved every minute of it. So sorry for your loss.

Dean

Dean hit the nail on the head. It's crazy how easily that sadness can surface from time to time. It's part of being an animal lover and having pets. You know one day it's going to happen but nothing prepares you for it. My heart goes out to you and Debi.

But try to remember, right now she's a puppy again, and having the best time.

I realize it doesn't help, but there are lots of folks out here who share your pain and know exactly what you are going through right now. So glad y'all found her and she found you and y'all had all those years together.

My deep sympathy for your loss. Last summer we took our Ginger for that last trip as well. Ginger was our 15 year old, more child than dog, yellow lab that was the sweetest creature I've ever known. She was Abbey's big sister and was my 'bestest girl'. I will always miss her, but life goes on and we have some room in our hearts for another.

Yesterday, we drove to a farm an hour and a half away and selected this little girl....

Ron, I'm so sorry about Pepper. Dogs definitely become family, especially after 13 years.

I am very sorry to hear this. I didnt realize that such a pretty dog could ever have a worry at a shelter, but you saved her and got 13 more years, which in itself is such a full life.

I'm so sorry Ron. That's the hardest decision a pet owner ever has to make and I'm sure you made the right decision.

You done good with that one, Abbeysdad. We have a male that is one of the sweetest dogs I have ever been around. He is a bull in a china closet and a big goof but we love him

Everybody that's gone through what you have can empathize, I know what its like. You know what's even sadder to me in a way? Peolple that go through life that never share that loving bond between man and pet.

I'm very sorry to hear about Pepper. Having been down that road twice myself, I know the pain your feeling. She gave you the best 13 years of her life Ron. Now that she is gone, you have wonderful memories and photos to remember her by. God bless ya buddy.
