Chilton makes manuals for most cars. You can ususally find the specific model.

My uncle had an el camino. Sweet little thing.... I'd love to have one. Just curious, what's she like on gas?

fl gas milage depends on the moter.. the 305 aint awfull the 327 aint great the 350 is a pain at the pump the 454 well bring on the nighmare. 454 in the el will get 4-6 mpg or gallons pre mile rather..

I bet if you fix it up nice, and I mean paint/tires etc.. The chicks will be digging you. Also since it's that old, next year it will be a collectors item/classic, and could bring you a decent amount of cash if done right.

Used book stores and flea markets will usually have lots of obsolete manuals. You also might just go to a GM dealer and check to see if they have any old manuals. When I was still in a dealership any manual over 10 years old were gotten rid of, either given away or the dumpster.
