Listen to mostly rock. Classic is always good, led zep, who, some southern rock like skynard is good too. Listen to a lot of metal, old Metallica, Pantera, so on. I also listen to some of the death metal bands that you don't really hear on the radio at all. Favorite band right now is Avenged Sevenfold(avatar) they've got a lot of shred in their songs as well as an incredible drummer and they actually sing in a lot of their songs as opposed to just saying the words, probably the most talented band out there right now.

I like some of there songs, but Atreyu, and Senses Fail have the best guitarist, IMO.

Yeah I cant stand Linkin Park, and Nickelback has no talent at all......I still believe that the best guitarist ever was Jimmy Page from led zep, I have a huge poster of him in my room playing a Gibson ES doubleneck special edition. Beautiful guitar, makes me drool.
