Updated Potomac River
Massive algae blooms appeared on the river this past weekend due to many factors including the 95-100 degree temps. We found cooler water (83 degrees) but the broken up pieces of the algae mats made flipping and pitching difficult. As the tide pushed the slop out of the creek we started catching fish. Caught one nice fish on a toad and a bunch of small fish on plastics. Didn't do as well as previous weeks. Couldn't find the many 2-2.5 lb fish we found in previous weeks. Water has cleared up and the fish are easily spooked and hide in the grass during low tide. Once again some teams found good fish and 19lbs won the tournament and it took 15+ to make the top 5.
