Little Seneca Lake (MD)

Hello to All!

I'm new to bass fishing having fished 2-3 times from a friend's boat on the Occoquan Resevoir. I discovered Little Seneca Lake about a month ago which encouraged me to buy an inexpensive setup to toss poppers, senkos and fat ikas until I figure out what I'm doing. I've gone out a number of times over the past month with varying degrees of sucess but almost always manage to land a bass. I usually fish the last 2-3 hours of daylight.

Any and all pointers are welcome! Especially from those who fish this lake.

Judging by those photos I'd say you have it figured out pretty well! Those are some great bass.

I don't know the lake at all, but I like fishing those last 2-3 hours before dark and until I have trouble seeing. I think that you may just need to move around a lot to try to find where the fish are, and see if they are biting. Last week I found a spot that had good fish on a local lake. One day they were hitting every other cast with topwater. The next couple of days the fish were still there just not as aggressive. I still caught a few, but it was with dragging a plastic craw along the bottom. Once you find an area with some fish try several different tactics. I'll go up and down the shore throwing a topwater and working it fast. If I get a blow-up then I'll slow down and try a few different things in that area.

Thanks guys I appreciate the god words. I should admit that I'm only new to bass fishing since I started going saltwater fishing since I was ten (I'm a whole lot older now!) so I have a good idea how to cast etc. But I've become pretty obsessed with bass fishing over the last month, it's much harder than saltwater, and when you catch one after putting in the time it feels great!

Is the 2nd pic the same fish as the 3rd pic? That 2nd fish is a fattie! Looks like your doin good though, feel free to ask anything though, lots of experience on this board.

I live about 10 minutes away from Seneca Lake and try to go there a few times. My whole thing is that the amount of shoreline you have to travel to find decent spots that don't already have a fisherman on it is too much for me. Trying to find a decent used kayak to take out there and also Clopper Lake.

Hey Panthrosan, how's the fishing in Clopper Lake? I've been wanting to go? I haven't had a hard time at Seneca getting to the spots I wanted to, definitely somethere from time to time but nothing crazy...but maybe that's because I'm still figuring out where to go...lol!

No, the second fish was probably 13-14 inches but I took a pic bc it was so fat. The third pic is a diferent fish, a lot bigger than the others.

Clopper can be hit or miss. I've had a few days of being skunked by bass but that is why I bring my ultra-light for some panfish action. Drop me a PM and maybe we can set up a day to fish next week.
