Fourth of July Fishing "Fireworks"!
My wife has done a lot of fishing in her lifetime, but just this year she is starting to get into bass fishing. We had great weather at the lake last weekend, and she and I were able to make 4 fishing outings together in our boat. She is a quick learner and had her best bass fishing ever with regards to both numbers and size of fish. She even caught more fish (27-25) than I did during our shared boat time! I told her I am just that good of a guide! I made a couple other solo outings and got out once with a couple fishing buddies who were also up there, and I caught an additional 38 fish on those trips. We're heading back up to the lake this weekend with my brother, his wife, their 3 kids, another nephew of mine from IA, and possibly my dad if his health allows it. If the weather looks decent, I plan to make a 5-day stay out of it.
Here are the details and pics from a few of our better fish from last weekend. (P.S. - 89 of our 90 fish were caught on a "Zoomie" and all fish were released unharmed, as always.) Kaye got us going with a decent LM on Friday morning -- 2lb 1oz, 15.5" I added a 2lb 7oz, 16.0" and 2lb 13oz, 16.5" LM during a solo outing later that morning (and got to practice using the timer on the camera for a self-photo ) Kaye nailed a new PB Smallie for herself on Sunday morning. It weighed in at 2lb 4oz and was 16.0" in length I was fishing from our dock on Monday morning (5:10 a.m.!) July 4th, before we took the boat out, and I caught my best bass so far this year - 3lb 14oz, 18.75" length, 13.50" girth And just for fun, here is a shot of our dog, Lucky, celebrating his 8th birthday while up at the lake. |

Sounds like an awesome weekend at the lake. Even better because it was spent with family.
