I was born and raised on Keuka lake.Hammondsport to be exact.Fish the Branchport branch or main lake for smallmouth and the PennYan branch or south end for Largemouthbass. If you get down there this summer, give me a instant message when your coming down and we will go fishing. There are alot of good smaller lakes in the area less than an hour if the traffic or wind is too bad on Keuka. I'll be sure to do that! I think we are fishing the penn yan side. That's where my friend's family goes through to get to the cottage. We are on the side with the channel and little boat shop next to it. What do you use there for bass?

Any thing you already use for bass will work. I use jigs, tubes and senkos, but whatever you already have will catch fish. Keuka is a very difficult lake at times.I have seen 28 lbs weighed in for 5 fish and then I have seen 14 lbs win the tournament, the lake is 11,584 acres, 18.6 miles long and its deepest spot is 184 feet deep.Stay on the Penn Yan side, there is good fishing there without having to go anywhere else. as pnj said the big Y can be diffacult to fish well at times. and can be nasty if the wind starts. if you fish the south end make sure you check all drags. don't lock them down i have caught land lockes bass fishing down there.. normal tackle will work if you fish in ny regularly..

well i've never really fished a lake before except last time we went but that was the first time i ever went fishing and it was off the docks and caught 2 rock bass. I'm more of a pond guy so i use very shallow stuff..I'll try out some new stuff. Anyone else know anything about this lake?
