Default Weighty issue

There've been several threads where folks have listed different weight material preferences. Personally, I've come to really trust steel and tungsten for C-rigging, but don't have a real preference for anything else. Just curious if anyone has any thoughts on their favorite weights and why they prefer them. For instance, I like steel or tungsten for C-rigs because they absolutely help with sensitivity. Apart from the added expense, they perform a lot better than lead for feeling the bottom and, somehow, for detecting strikes, at least imho.

Thanks-

For me it's lead or steel. Purely a matter of economics. Can't afford W (tungsten).

W may very well be better at transmitting feedback, but I don't need it. Why? Put it this way. An Ugly Stick is quite sensitive in my hands and because that is a fact, I don't need W to help or enhance the feel.

I've started using more brass weights that are painted black. I'm just not paying the $$$ for Tungsten whether I can afford it or not. I also paint my own lead weights.

I've started using leadfree jigheads lately. They are a little lighter than the same sized lead jigheads and in my opinion, are therefore a little more lifelike concerning the action they allow when fishing soft plastics. A lot of the time, I just fish weightless altogether.

I like to c-rig with steel myself.. just get better feed back on the line with steel plus it makes a diffrent sound down there. LGMouth get curious about different sounds.

Tungsten, until I run out of them, anyway. Then I'm back to lead unless I won the Lotto. Brass for most C-Rigging, though.

I'm using tungsten more and more, But I don't lose many. If I did I would have to go back to lead.

If money is a big issue, you can always get a rock polisher and a small drill.
