same bass?

Ever other weekend when i go to my mom's house i fish the same part of the neighborhood pond/lake...whatever u wanna call it. Every time i fish this drainage type thing i always get a bass around 5 or 6 lbs in the same spot every time. But a few days ago (and this has happened more than once) it took me three times to catch it. The first time my line broke, second time the fish jumped it off, then the third time i caught it. Do you think it is the same bass that is just really agressive or just different bass every time? cuz the first one would've had a swim shad stuck in it's mouth and the second one looked about 4 lbs. Is it common for big bass to hang out in the same spot?
