Default Boat Financing Question

I currently have a 1978 model Ranger with a 75HP Evinrude. It still runs and is in pretty good condition, but I'm ready for something more. I'd like to have more room, storage, and of course, more power.

My question is how do loans work on boats? Are they similar to car loans where the length of the loan is 60-72 months? Can you finance them for a longer amount of time? Also, what kind of APR % can I expect?

New bass boats are very pricey!

Not sure, guessing that getting preapproval from a bank is cheaper and easier. I have heard that boats can be financed longer than cars though.

right now they can and often do finance a boat for up to 30 years. helps bring the payments down a tad..

But at 30 years, you are paying on a boat for the same length of time you could buy a house in!!! I know that 10 year notes have become pretty common, especially if you finance through the dealer.

Well Yes Zooker,

Didn't you know that all anglers must have a boat that is of more value than the truck and mobile home together?
Geesh get with the program.
Step one. Ya buy that 33,000 Ranger, tow it with a truck beater

STep two. Ya marry some rich widder and make her buy a new cheby truck that matches the color of the boat.

Step 3. Ya parade to the ramp with your new rigs and make the ol lady work double time in the coal mines while you play..

its really all so simple, I'm on my 5th ol lady and it makes perfect sense to me!

LMFAO

I bought a new Suntracker pontoon boat three years ago. The dealer would finance up to 10 years. I went to my usual small town bank and got a personal loan for five years. I took the check to the dealer the next day and they did not want much else to do with me after I paid for the boat.

the only thing you need to know about dealers is are they there after the sale?
