Default another jig question

as you can tell, i am fairly new to the jig. last year was my first time using it and i have to say, i caught fish, especially at night, but i couldnt let go of the drop shot long enough to really appreciate it.

here is my home lake lake scenerio: highland reservoir, 152 max foot depth, alot of rocky banks, bluff banks, gravel banks and gravel flats. however, when the lake was built. they left alot of standing timber in a few of the coves. im talking trees sticking out of 60 feet of water and some sticking out of 10 feet of water. i have had alot of success dropping a shakey head around the trees and bass hitting it on the fall. what size jig would i use for the same presentation? my shakey head is only 1/8 oz.

as far as the banks, i have thrown 1/4 oz cause that is what i was told worked, but i think a football head would be suited better. most of our banks drop steeply say 0-40-50 feet 15 yards out. seems like dragging a football jig would be good, but i have not thrown 1 yet.

reason for all this is i am about to place an order for a bunch of jigs and am just trying to sort this out. i assume the arkie style would be good for the trees? there are no docks on the lake as it is surrounded by national forest so there is not much cover and the bass seem to stay deep along the river channels and points then coming to the flats to eat. i really want to jig more this year(especially now that i got a baitcaster for it and am loving it!)
thanks again

for a slow fall i would also suggest a 1/4oz. you can make the jig fall faster or slower by changing trailers or having a really full skirt or trimming some strands out of it. the jigs we make come with an 80 strand skirt and it will fall a lot slower than a jig of the same weight with a 40 strand skirt. you can go with a bulkier trailer to slow the fall down. a lot of guys will use an arkie head in timber but i use either a football head or roundhead and really can't complain about getting hung up much. after a while you get use to the feeling when you are dragging up a tree limb and can give the jig a little pop and it will usually come over just fine. my 2 cents worth anyways.
