First Texas Rig haul!
I did it. I finally caught a fish on a Texas rig. And it was quick too. I had just flipped it out over this pier into some vegetation like cover. I had thrown a crankbait in there before so I knew I would have to work my way through it. But as soon as I began to reel the strike came. I have to get used to it because I’m so used to using bobbers for bluegill and crappie and even catfish. I’ve caught bass mainly on crankbaits. Although I had caught a bass on a worm, my rigging was horrible. I’m sure the bass were swimming by laughing at my rigging when they first saw it.
Now I keep my abu sx with suffix braid Texas rigged since you can rig multiple soft plastics with it. My other tackle I use mono so I can change from crankbaits, spinners, etc. I think my bass skills are slowly coming together. I really kind of stopped bass fishing because the action was few and far in between. It’s really tough when you don’t have a boat and are chasing them from the shore. I guess I just needed to try a new technique or two. |

Hey man, i'm right there with you. Been fishing from shore for quite some time... Hopefully not for too much longer though. Check out the line selection section of the website, you'll learn which type of line is recommended for different techniques.I would recommend Floro though for your crankbaits. Just a thought... Congrats!!
