What goes up won't come down!

I recently had my engine trimmed about half way up while we were fishin in some shallows and the trim decided to stop working..atleast on the downswing. It works fine going up, but won't do anything when trying to trim down. There are 3 points in the boat where you can adjust the trim..all of them work fine when trimming up. I have narrowed the problem (I think..??) to somewhere between the battery and junction box in the engine compartment, but I am nervous that I might be missing something. When I try to trim it down I don't get any sound or signal to indicate it's receiving any power..nothing. The engine is a 1989 Evinrude XP150. Has anyone ever ran into something like this?

it may be your trim moter not kicking in to down mode..and have you hit something recently with it??

Thanks Zooker, but I figured out the problem. I had a friend of mine (who happens to be one of those hobby mechanics) come over and take a look at what might be the problem. He ran through the basics, checking all the wiring and hydraulic unit. He's never worked on a boat motor before, but in any case he solved the issue. Inside the engine case attached to the rear of the engine is a junction box that runs all the hydraulics. The box has a simple two screw faceplate and once removed reveals two small flashers or relay switches. One controls the down power and the other controls the up. The relay switch on the down side had crapped out, we switched the flashers just to be sure and it worked!

I stopped by the parts store today and HOLY CRAP...$20 BUCKS for a damn fuse...ugggghhhhh! Needless to say I've got a new switch, but there goes my gas $$ for the week...

20 bucks is cheap insurance for peace of mind. its nice to have no distractions on the water like a motor that wont rise or lower.

I always carry a spare. For $20 it is definitely cheap insurance...
