Engine Troubles PLEASE HELP

Hey guys, first off let me just say that you guys are awesome and I genuinely appreciate all the help and advice that I get...these forums are extremely useful and have helped me to become a better angler because of them...so enough of the *** kissing for now, let me get to my problem...Took my boat out today, like I do 3-4 times a week and something is amiss..the boat acts like it's not getting any fuel..I checked all the hoses and even replaced the fuel filter (it was over due anyhow)...the boat will start fine, but won't stay running for very long...I know that it's getting fuel because the manual hand pump to the engine is full...however, after it warms up it just quits..Things I've done so far

1) replaced all six plugs (which were all fouled)
2) replaced fuel filter and checked all lines
3) changed the fuel and mixed appropriately (16 oz./6 gals.)

#1 makes me think that perhaps the choke is stuck..(hmmm.) the choke is electronic..the type where you have to push the key in to activate

#2 the only other question is perhaps the fuel pump itself, but it doesn't make sense that it starts and runs for about 1-2mins.

After it starts the throttle is responsive for a few seconds, but quickly starts hesitating if I keep on it

The engine is an 1989 evinrude XP150 2cycle, I have taken out the oil injection and I manually mix..better safe than sorry

Hey check the carboratore. Did i spell it right???Might be the same thing that happend to my push mower.

Had kind of the same problem with my 200 Mainer. Idled great.. Fuel pump diaphragm had a very small tear...

thats ok i wont hold it against ya.. it does sound like a diaphram leak though..

Quick test have your motor monkey squeeze the fuel bulb continuously after start. If it continues to run then you have a fuel delivery issue.
Gas good?
Did you know fuel filters have a direction of flow?
Air intake to tank clear?
Fuel pump would be next followed by a carb check.

If you get to the carb issue start first with a carb cleaner and clean out the air venturies in the throttle body first.. Then if that still does not work then a rebuild of carbs is needed.

Ahhhaa! Turned out to be a tear in the diaphram..good call guys!! Thanks a million for all your efforts...$115 bucks for the kit and I'm back to slayin'

ok i will say it $115 for a diaphram kit -ouch

- seeing a diaphram cost about $12 what else was in the "kit"?? probly a screen and filter core but. still $115...dam...

sorry should have clarified, decided on changing the entire fuel pump just in case any other damage had been caused

Ok you got her running pretty well now but you still havent put in the magic elixcir of life for outboards..SEAFOAM.......You can ask me now or it will cost ya later. Trust me bud Seafoam that engine. Just ask the rest of the folks on here what seafoam has done foer them since I turned em on to it.
