Banjo Minnow?
I got this early spring and have not used it much! So I decided to open it up and try it today! Has anyone had any luck on these?

I was out with a client on Saturday.
He brought some Banjo Minnows with him and started catching fish right away. You need to add a lot of twitch and wiggle with these baits, They sink slowly, with a slight glide, but don't have much action of their own. Garry2R's |

They catch 3 times as many fish as live bait.*#

Like almost every bait, they have their place. I always considered them a gimmick bait (designed to catch fishermen's wallets rather than fish). A couple of weeks ago one of my buddies was using them and was catching a lot of fish while I was cursing my Drop Shot for not producing.

I had a similar attack by the bait monkey this spring, and I have had only limited success with the Banjo Minnows. Like most other lures, sometimes they work; sometimes they don't. I'm not too keen on the way the eye gadget attaches to the hook.
From my current perspective, the best thing about this 'system' may be those tiny rubber bands they provide for making the hooks snagproof (more or less). These bands work equally well with worm rigs and other soft baits. .

They catch fish. Like Cassidy said "they have their place". Clear water, weeds or grass, and fish looking for a slow fall and an erratic action would be one way to use them.

I used to use them when I was younger and they caught fish, but I think that using a fluke type soft plastic jerkbait would be easier and more effective.

They work, not all the time but in clear and calm waters they are my go to bait.
Id use a banjo minnow over a fluke any day, the banjo has much better action. TB |

John think about a Helicopter lure with a banjo minnow trailer? Do you think the world is ready for such greatness?

I still have a set that I got back in '97. So old that the metal pieces are nearly rusted through.
I've been using them for trailers. Just drop 'em in a baggie with a dab of YUM juice. I'm also gonna' throw two of the frogs on a double-swim rig this weekend near a grass and lilly bed at the lake. |
