salt water???
I just moved to beaufort sc from va. I have a 90 hp merc and there is nothing but saltwater around where i live. Anyone got some advice of what i should or not to do. It is just so tempting to take it out and then rinse the cooling system but it makes me nervous so if anyone has any experience i would appreciate it. thanks

Be sure to TOTALLY wash and rinse that motor, any metal, your trailer, rinse your brakes. The best way to do this is run it in a freshwater lake everytime due to deposits in tap water.

also you'll have to change the sacrafical iodes every two years...i have done mine this year and am good to go..
hold on the savannah river is 20 miles south of your location..were talking one of the largest fresh water rivers to flow into the ocean on THE EAST COAST.. you can almost bet that though saline out about a mile in the ocean the water is 90% fresh at the mouth of the river.. the new and wright rivers are in your back yard the new packs some awesome bassin.. the speck trout are running around the fresh water like a spider monkey on red bull right now. ifin i was goin to do that area right now i would tie on a couple differant top waters-spook,torpeedo- an fish around the cockspur island bridge near savannah..-i have done it I KNOW.. do your self a favor buy the south carolina sportsman magazine.. it gives ya an idea as to who's doing what, where.. zooker

Pull your fuel line, put the rabbit ears on, and run it till it conks out every time you get back. Then rinse everything down REAL good........You can still run a motor in the salt for a looong time if you take care of it right......
