Try 'em weightless, rigged Texposed. Make sure you use a hook with a big enough gap to allow it to get through the plastic and into the fish. Twitch, pause, twitch, etc. Leave a little slack after the twitch and it'll dart erratically. I like to use them, or similar baits, around lily pads and other vegetation. Bring them over, around and through the weeds, letting them sink into holes or at the edges. But they're good around other shallow cover too. They can also be used deeper if you have the patience, which I don't.

A sluggo is the bait that started the soft plastic jerkbait craze 10 9or so yraes ago. Over time they have fallen out of favor for some reason, but they still catch fish. Made by Lunker City:

Good bait, as Marty stated, t-rigged weightless. Fish it fast or slow, it works both ways.

It's termed a soft plastic jerk bait. The basic way to work it is like a suspending rogue. If you want it to drop faster and stay more horizontal...use roofing nails inserted to body half-way down to 2/3rd's of the way down...below the hook or in the tail...each area gives ya a little different action and fall.
