I go to school a few hours away. Plus, i dont have anywhere to put it in an overpopulated college town, and i really don't trust a lot of people in this area. Back home its a lot more safe, you can see i dont many people surrounding me.

Great job! Really worth your effort. What kind of paint did you use? Getting ready to paint mine soon. Looking at a good multi season epoxy paint.

I'm pretty sure its an 1848. I know for sure that its 18' feet long. The bottom might be little wider though.
I used Rustoleom Topside paint. I heard good things about it and it fit into my budget. It also comes in nice colors. I figure i might not need heavy duty bottom side paint mainly because my boat doesn't constantly sit in water. It gets wet for a couple hours and then ges back on the trailer. Mix the paint with Xylene (I used a spray gun). I used Navy Blue and Sand Beige. Also, I used up all the two quarts of the navy blue with 2 solid coatings. I used a can and a half of the sand beige. Link: http://www.homedepot.com/webapp/wcs/...atalogId=10053 No i did fix the dent... I thought about but I heard stories about people trying to pop out dents and them cracking real bad. I did fix the problem by making new bunks for the trailer though. The dent is not very noticeable now. I barely notice it viusally or riding the boat. |

looks awesome, but you should have used treated boards if those arent. and i think id put a backer under those doors where the hinge is. if those screws get loose on the hinge or the least bit rotten, youre gonna go through the floor if you step there...lol

1. Many types of treated wood react badly with aluminum and can increase corrosion. 2. The carpet glue i purchased said not to use with treated wood. 3. $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ the backers underneath the hinges would have been a good idea but I was trying to keep my storage as flexible as possible and with supports on both side of the hatches, well... that would suck. I'll see how it holds up though. |
