Exclamation **** Need Help Testing Something **** - Kevin

THIS IS A NEW TEST

Hey guys... just wanted to ask and see if you guys could do me a quick favor and help me test something real quick.

For those of you with high speed connections (broadband and above), I have a test dummy file that is 100mb on the server and I am interested in seeing what an average download speed is for you guys. So if you could, please download the file below (click on it and choose "Save As File..").. save it to your desktop or somewhere where you can easily delete it afterwards... and when you start downloading it, let it download and tell me what the average download speed is during the transfer.

You should see something like "452 kb/sec" or "182 kb/sec"... something like that. Sometimes the transfer speed is higher when you first start it, then it kinda evens out after awhile. I'm more interested in that steady speed towards the halfway finished point. And if you also wouldn't mind telling me what kind of connection you are on... whether it be Cable connection, DSL, dialup, etc. And if you know who your ISP is (Comcast, Time Warner, etc) include that as well. I am trying to get a gauge on how quick you guys can retrieve this stuff. Just post any results here in this thread.

Dummy Download File (100mb): http://www.bassfishin.com/100mbs.bin

What To Post:
1) Average Download Speed
2) Your ISP provider (ie. Comcast, Verizon, etc)
3) The speed of your Connection (ie. 8mbs Cable, or 15mbs DSL, 56k Dialup, etc)
4) (Optional) Your location.

Much appreciation for your help! Thanks so much.

Take care and good fishin'

Kevin

About 9 minutes.
Speed 180-207kbs.
Time Warner 512mb wireless
San Antonio, TX

Probably would have been faster using an ethernet cable.

Sheesh...New Member here feeling old AND slow!!
Avg. 150kbs
Windstream (Alltel) DSL
My speed says 100mbps..but I know they lie.
Took almost 12 min.
Denton N.C.

Also....the time & speed will vary more with dsl & dialup due to time of day,& what type of download manager is being used. I use Firefox as my browser with their DL Mngr. But 12 min ain't bad to me...even in this hurry up world!
