Definition of Bait Monkey
Hey guys, on another thread, I attempted to answer the question, "What is the bait monkey?" The following is the definition that I provided based on my reading of other threads and my marginal understanding of this topic:
Bait Monkey: (noun) an analogy of sorts, refers to the incessant persuasiveness of both the conscious and subconsious mind wherein an individual is encouraged to purchase quantities of fishing gear, whether small or large, via one transaction or a series of transactions to satisfy a person's insatiable lust to acquire additional fishing items including but not limited lures, rods, reels, and terminal tackle. Did I get this right? Any veterans on this site have some suggestions for revising the drafted definition? |

Lemme read carefully..........yeah..... yes sir...... oh yes !........that´s him !
Actually what I would change in that definition would be: .. the consciuos and the subconscious mind wherein..... to: the evil voices inside |

Raul, I just want to thank you for inventing the term bait monkey. Now that I understand the condition, I at least have an excuse to give my wife when I buy more fishing gear.
Truly, the phrase "bait monkey" should be included in Webster's. If it ever is, I will know that you were the man that invented the phrase. |

It has become obvious to me that the bait monkey will even get the very young. My 3 year old has been attacked by the bait monkey. When I take him to Gander Mountain, he loves to pick out crankbaits and plastics. Be careful, the bait monkey will attack the young and innocent.
However, the upside to this the fact that I love for him to be fired up about fishing and I tell my wife that I would not want to hurt his feelings by not getting what he picked out. The bait monkey knows no boundary! |

Zook, I have a 16' aluminum V-Hull that I keep at my Mom's private lake. (the rules do not allow any motors, even electric, so I sprung for the biggest boat I could still row) So, if I am not fishing her lake, I am wading.
