Default Line for everything

Say I was to take one rod fishing and wanted a line that was good for just about all types of methods, baitcasting or spinning. What line would you choose? Lb. test, color, dia. Give a brand name if you would. Thanks.

Interesting dilemma. If I was going to be throwing more cranks, spinnerbaits and topwater I'd use 12 lb green Trilene XL. If I was planning on throwing more soft plastics I'd go with 12 lb Seguar Carbon Pro flourocarbon.

30 lb braid in any brand but spiderwire. If you buy spiderwire, buy 80 -150 lb test so it won't break on you. P N J

Probably 12 pound ANDE or 20 pound powerpro. ANDE if I was doing anything otherthan fishing a sloppy lake, powerpro if I was bumping stumps, jigging brushpiles, flipping pitching etc.

I'm using Trilene XL 14 lb on two rods, cajun red 14 lb on two other baitcasters, and 40 lb test powerpro on my other 2 baitcasters..
I chose the cajun red casting line, after hearing about it on here (out
of curiosity), and have had no backlashes or breakage yet,
the powerpro I love, but I've never seen a line that will wrap itself around
limbs and stick-up, but other than that I really like the strength and sensitivity..I have cut my fingers on it, I keep forgetting its not mono.
And as far as the trilene, I've used it for years, and like the low vis 12-14 green.

Well I think I'll try some cajun on my spinning outfit. It is a Triumph 6ft 6in med. I already asked for a couple of opinions on a spinning reel but bought a Metaloid by Okuma. I got it on sale for $59.00. I already have two Okuma's and have had no problem with them. I couldn't pass that up. It has ten bearings and its a 30 model. I'll use this rod as an all around take only one rod. I did use power pro on my old spinning set up and liked it. I'll put power pro on the spare spool and be covered for any situation, I hope. I also picked up 8 more BooYah and 4 more War Eagle spinner baits for $1.88 each. I'm covered pretty good now for spinnerbaits. If I don't like the spinning as formentioned I'll switch back to baitcasting when I take only one rod.

OK, I am late for this but here goes. I would go with a casting rod, a 7ft MH, preferably a quality one too, I like the looks of Cabelas XMLti, and pair it with their Cabelas Prodigy Casting rod. 14 lb Trilene XL would be my line choice.

30lb-50lb Powerpro, in whatever color you like. Just bring a pair of pliers to straighten out your hooks, and to wrap around the line when hung up, so as not to break your rod or reel LOL
