sure, walkin the dog means that you are generally using a topwater stick bait, (ZARA SPOOK, WALKIN DOG, ETC.) What you do is throw it out, wait till the water rings disapeer, then jerk the rods ina light downward motion at a slow to medium pace... The lure will go back and forth, back and forth, etc. (sort of like a Jitterbug) hope this helps!!

Actually there are many directions you can hold the rod tip straight up at noons ville for the start, then go to a 4 o clock position to the side of you, then the straight down the last 20-30 feet to the boat..I prefer a 5ft 8Medium for jerkbaits, but for the spook, I prefer a 6-6MH

I only 1 guy that can hold a rod tip high and successfully take the pooch for a stroll.....Byron Velvick. He holds the rod at about 11 oclock and can walk it like no tommorrow. Very cool!

I use a 8 foot heavy duty rod with a good strong casting reel loaded with 200 pound test line. Braided works best. Tie on a salt water sized snap and clip it to my labs collar. Then I simply feed out line while he roams the neighborhood doing his buisness. Gotta hang on tight when he spots a squirrel or two though, hehehehe. OK, I know this was bad!!! LOL

Karl,

This picture defines dog-walking most clearly...

No charge, buddy. I'm glad to help.

Its just jerking a topwater bait(mostly stickbaits) so that it moves like this.

all the way back to you. Not my favorite technique, I like ripping with propeller baits more.
