what type hook to use?
Ok guys I have a question that has puzzled me for a while and I know you all can help. Here goes, when do you use a straight shaft hook, an offset head straight shaft hook, an extra wide gap hook, and so on? examples of good hook/bait combos would be helpful . Thanks for all your help guys.

small straight worms like trick worms finesse worms i use a straight shank 2/0 hook for.bigger worms 6-8 " that tend to be bulkier i use a offset 3/0 hook.8-10" worms i use a ewg 3/0-4/0 hook.frogs and flukes i really like the ewg 4/0 hooks. hula grub, paca craw type baits a 3/0 gammy's g-lock is a must have.
most of my hooks are gammy's... good question btw.. zooker

I use all offset hooks, which is not a knock on straight-shank hooks. My general guideline on the gap is that the hook gap should be at least double the bait's diameter. This will allow enough room for the hook to get through the plastic on the hookset and into the fish's jaw.

I like any wide gap hook thats not to thick in a 4/0 or 5/0 depending on the size of lure.
