the darker the water the darker the lure from what i am told. if fishing in a little pond in the country with little cover than id try buzzbait rather than spinner. but black seems to work better than others including in the heat of alabama.

in my personal experience, it depends on the brightness of the day. I don't have a lot of luck with chartreuse in ponds, but I have gotten many bass in the middle of the day with a white skirt, white blade spinner. I've also caught them with a bleeding white skirt and single silver colorado blade. Some people say that during the day, if the water is dirty, then using chartruese helps the fish find the bait, but I am more concerned with vibration to help the fish find the bait. I stick to natural colors usually, and use black from dusk til morning with success.
Generally, its about the presentation first. After that, if its a very bright day or you're fishing in a sun-baked area, use light or natural colored lures. The darker it gets, the darker you can go..that includes water clarity. |

I am no good with spinnerbaits this year!!! I only caught 1 on a spinner. Yah I know it is sad!! LOL. But, I am going to try them on a big body of water soon. I am gonna try to get to the resivoir and shore fish for a while in this cove no one walks to because it is a mile hike in or so!

Backlash King What Clarity Of Water Are You Fishing. Spinnerbaiting Has More To Do With The Blades Than The Color.

If The Water Is Super Clear And It Is Really Sunny You Want A White Spinnerbait With Two Chrome/silver Willow Leaf Blades. Anything Else You Want A Gold And Silver Combo Of Willow And Colorodo, If Its Really Murky Use A One Big Or Two Gold Colorodo Blades.

I do real well with spinnerbaits. throwing darker colors in murky water, and lighter colors in clear water seems to be the most popular idea, but I say mix it up, and test the results. (THEN TELL US!! lol)

For me, size, retrieve speed and shape of blade are more important than color.
Any way, IMO, white works well for Bass as well as golden for pike. Last edited by H2O; 07-29-05 at 12:19 AM. |

I always start with dark colors black/yellow mix and if that doesnt work, i'll switch to a lighter color. I catch more fish on dark baits any time of year, but that is just my preferance.

I recently got a black and yellow oversized spinnerbait with a willow and colorado combo and I have done very well with it. I use larger spinnerbaits more, I think they can find it easier and get more agressive than with the small ones.

first the color of the is most inportant,if the majority of the fish are shiny, use a silver one,if thier brownish use a gold spinner,i use booyah they have about 5 spinners on one spinerebait, the think its a small shcool of shad and thats why they eat they want to get the most food they can get with less energy
