OK this is good dumb question
Ships fully loaded with frieght pass over this canal over pass in Sweden. The overpass is rated for just the weight of the water. So why doesn't the fully loaded ships bust right thru the overpass when they go over it?
Seems impossible don't it... Capt Mike

...because the ships displace their weight in water. If you could somehow pick up the ship and see the "hole" left in the water, the amount of water to fill that hole would weigh exactly what the ship weighs.
It's why melting sea ice will NEVER raise sea levels, no matter what the global warming crazies think. |
