go easy and go over it again, sand out the runs, repaint. more coats the better if you sand after each coat. then clear coat or jel coat.

auto paint should be alright. how much i can't truly tell ya. maybe 1 gallon at the MOST. but you should ask ol zooker to make sure, or boater or 1fastlaser. they know alot more than i on this one buddy. it ain't no different than painting a car i don't think. it's the jell coat that matters the most i believe.

I'm not sure automotive paint will go good over glass, could be wrong though. Interlux briteside is a paint that is made for boats that might be better. (I have actually heard of people getting good results painting their vehicles with interlux as well, I am considering it down the road)

My boat is a rustoleum special but its aluminum so its really not comparable.

Painting a boat with a spray bomb is the same as burning your money. It will not stay on. To do it correctly wetsand the boat and use an epoxy primer. This seals off the old and gets it ready for the new. Wetsand again cept this time its harder to sand but hey no one said it was gonna be easy if you want a good job. As far as the color coat there are several that will work if done correctly. Interlux is one but personally I dont like the colors or lack of. DuraTec is a GREAT paint as well as good ole polyurethane enamel. With the urethane's use a SMALL amonut of flex agent when paintin. Now you can stop there but your gonna have to keep her waxed. Best thing to do is go ahead and clear it now so its not so hard to keep shiny. I have done several several boats as in prolly 75-100 and there is NO substitute for doing it right the first time. When you do it wrong the first time you just pissed away that money plus the added expense of removing the wrong way. You can paint a boat if you look around for about 400. Ebay has some great deals nless you want some jazzy special mixed color.
