bass
it is the age old problem of a carb moter. you trim it all the way down the carbs are actually flooding since you are gravity feeding them. i have mine start to skip and hesitate a bit. i have to bump up the rpms a touch or rev it to clear. before i bang it up on plane.. some carb moters load up -rudes are known for this- and sorta vapor lock. zooker

I think it is the age old storie...a boat is a hole in the water in which you throw money. What year motor do you have? what boat is it on?what size prop do you have these are all factors that will help in a hypothosis.

Lowrider, i've carried mine to Lawson's in McGhee. I'll never carry one anywhere else.

It may be quicker and cheaper to take them off and deliver them to the shop. I did my own last year. First time I ever tried to. It wasn't difficult, but I had an experienced motorcycle mechanic at my side.

got mine out of the shop today, had some "crystals" or some sort of gunk in the high speed jets. thats why it did fine at slower speeds or if i killed it and let it sit for a minute. hope this helps anybody that is experiencing the same issues.
cost for taking off the carbs, cleaning, and flushing out the fuel lines... $50 |

Mercs tend to load up when ideling with the engine trimmed all the way down.
Try trimming it up just a little and see if it helps |

You are exactly right angus. Carbed mercs have there quirks and thats one of them. Ole trick I use is to when idling use the warm up lever to raise rpms a tad or as you stated trim her up just a tad. Just have to remeber where or what you are doing before you nail it to get up on pad. It may also very well be its time for a carb cleaning and or carb rebuild depending on how bad she struggles and/or performs. A simple can of Seafoam might be the ticket. Try that first. Also like boater stated the more nfo we have the better recommend we can give ya. Everyone should remeber this. Alot of us do not mind at all helping folks out. Please remeber to give us all the info that you can think is relevant to the issue. It makes it so much easier to help you out when this is done.
