does anyone use a rod cover to store their rods in their rod locker on the boat? man my rods get tangled up and it takes a while to get them untangled. anyone use a product called stor's-it? also basspro shops and cabela's has one also, thanks for the info

I had the same problem. Rather than rod covers I made one of these:
bassboatcentral.com/cheaprodholder.htm Cost about $20 for the components and works like a charm, and saves a lot of time having to remove a rod cover. The reels keep them spaced. Very few tangles. Another trick is to use a hook keeper to keep the hook/bait down around the reel. Grab the line just above the bait and wrap it around the rod and hook it over the first eye on the rod. Keeps the line out of the way.

Mount 112,
I take the line and twist it around the eyelets , it really helps from all the rods getting mixed together.. After I put the lure that is tied on to a eyelet of my reel, I then take the line and turn my rod about 3 times , it wraps up the line nice and tight Last edited by JB; 03-27-06 at 07:02 AM. |

I do the same thing that JB does, using BPS reel covers and twisting the line around the eyes. Works great, and I have no problem holding 16+ rods in my Nitro bass boat locker.

I use the BPS rod socks. The StorsIt socks are really good at about twice the price. They are a bit heavier and are more "custom fit", the BPS are one-size-fits-all but they are fine and eliminate the tangle problem in the rod locker.
