Satilla River, GA, Yields 18.5lb LM!

I'm not sure if you guys have heard about this huge bass being caught in Georgia, so I thought I would make a post so you could read as well about it as hear the interview one of my fellow Riverbassin.com friends did with the guy that caught it. Thats quite a story and quite a fish for a river bass.....the author was right in that the picture shown doesn't look like an 18lb fish, but who knows......all I know is that its bigger than any bass i've ever caught.....lol.

Man, it looks that big to me, otis doesn't look like the smallest guy, and the fish has the proportions of a giant.

Nobody so far has mentioned the interesting historical parallel here.

That location doesnt sound very far from the oxbow lake where George Washington Perry caught a fish that was 22-4.

Some people have claimed that such a fish would be impossible in that location. Others have claimed that the fish was really embellished, probably 13 pounds, but not 22-4.

This story is the same type deal. Was that fish 18 pounds? Looks more like 14 to me, but it could be. Thanks for posting that link.

After listening to the interview, I think I remember Otis saying he was 6 ft. tall. When asked where and how he got it weighed, he said he took it to a local bait & tackle store to have it weighed on a digital scale. I believe he had about 4 witnesses. Anyway I know first hand that a fish can be made to look bigger or smaller, depending on how the fish is held when the photo is made. It didn't matter to him anyway. Since it wasn't a world record, he took it home and ate it. All he knows is it was the biggest LM bass he has ever caught.

i believe it. sounds pretty legit.

but the 10lb test is hard to believe, then again, i had a 10lber on12lb test. and it popped when i beached the fish.
