Plastic Color

Hey guys, quick question: What's a good color soft plastic to fish in muddy water... well.... it's more like chocolate milk.

Something with chartreuse, but in chocolate milk-I thought I was the only one that used that term for real muddy water-I'd think noise/vibration over color. A spinnerbait with a big, single Colorado blade, a big, bulky jig, a loud rattling crankbait or a bulky soft plastic like a Sweet Beaver, Brush Hog, or Yum Wooly Hawgtail. In water that muddy bass rely on their lateral line rather than sight to find their prey, so creating noise and moving water will help them hone in on your bait..

i gotta agree with Rebbasser on the spinner bait in water that stained , i would also agree with the blade type but suggest using painted blades something bright in a green or orange
and fish it real slow to catch their eye in water like that they will come to the noise but you want them to see something as well , and they tend to stay extremely close to cover so if your fishing near a log hug the log with your spinner good luck

You can add extra vibration/commotion to spinnerbaits by using zoom speed worms and craws as trailers. They make two speedworms, one solid flaptail and the other is a hook tail with an active motion.....with either one on, it will help. You may even want to shorten the worms for trailer use...a shorter worm will help shake the spinnerbait as well. I've welded speedworm tails onto lizards making a noisy topwater lizard that will also throb when submerged.

Buzzie, I know you did, but I wanted a couple more opinions.

I noted the last time we fished there that along some of the shores I could see down about 2-2.5' while the rest of the lake it around 6-8", especially the shores the wind is blowing on.

We wnt to Gander Mtn. Yesterday and the one in Toledo is small. they didn't have any plastics in good muddy water colors except I bought a pack of black lizards with chartreuse tails. We also picked up some single colorado spinnerbaits and extra blades in copper, silver, and white.

Thanks for the input guys, I'll have to try some of the ideas.

Red or red with a Chartreuse tail also black. Choc milk water color makes bright red come alive. In fact I may not be throwing a worm I might be throwing a Texas Red carnkbait. Fish2win

Black, and anything with the main color being Black. The tail and/or claws could be blue, chartreuse, or anything, but black creates a more visible image in muddy water. This is true with spinner baits, chatterbaits, crankbaits and various jigs and worms.

I'm gonna see if I can find some black Brush Hogs or Power Hogs. I think those would work good pitched into some weeds.

As my liking of Hudson ever greatly increases with each trip, I cannot seem to get bit pitching or flipping. That and cranks is one thing I have trouble with there. I don't see why, it works everywhere else, but not at Hudson. I think that 1' visibility messes with my mind...
