http://shootingtimes.com/ballistics/....html&x=2&y=11

Click on the drop-down box that says "Centerfire cartridges" on the left and select "45-70" near the bottom.

You can say that again.... Saw an old man with a Single shot 45/70 hit a full grown cow elk at 150 yrds. The impact threw the elk sideways about 3 feet. She was DOA.

I have a buddy that carries one in Alaska for bears. He trusts it more than a 12 gauge full of slugs.

the 45/70 govt is one of the most powerful american rounds ever made.it really has a limited range but inside that range it has few peers in knock down power. i used to shoot 405 gr soft points.like hitting large northern whitetails with a bus..

Okay, how about this.... it kicks like a mule, it's pretty accurate at 100 yards, a little to the side of the center, however there is not much left of the center after a couple of 3/4" holes were made.

i hit a coyote running flat out. for a second it looked like a truck with a broken frame. then he piled up..damage wise think muzzel loader shooting a 45 sabot-which is about what you have- coming out of a 50 cal muzzel loader..

bamabassman Gotta warn ya on them Glocks had one for several years and I couldnt hit a barn at 25 feet and I mean a big barn, but I let a police buddy shoot it one day and he put 15 rounds in a rapid fire pistol target no problem. Moral of the story I cant shoot Glocks worth a Sh%t. However after switching to the new Pt 1911 from Taurus my Friendly Competion Shooting has improved 100%
