Boy I am mad
Went to fish my favorite little pond today and found out that they are draining the lake today to do some repairs on the spillway! I've caught a bunch of bass out of that lake this year, including the 11 lb 2 oz I caught last week! And, it's a sleeper lake. It used to be a catfish lake, with feeders in it, so nobody really bass fished it. At least when it's empty I can throw on my crappiest pair of boots and jeans and get back some of the lures I've lost there over the summer.

Should ask the guys working on it if they can put the fish in your next fav. pond by it.

They are completely draining it, using a "shock boat" to get the fish out and into another local pond, and fixing the drainage spillway. They aren't going to fill it back up or re-stock it for 2 years. There isn't a lot of structure on the lake, so I'm gonna add some to it. I can get a huge pile of X-mas trees to sink in it and I'll cut down some big pine trees with my chainsaw for a few laydowns on one bank.

damn that sucks man , the only thing you could do is try to transplant some fish back into it , but then you would have to add baitfish and stuff as well

Now that really sucks. The good news is that they're making every effort to relocate the fish. Use the down time effectively and take pictures of any structure on the bottom no matter how little it has.
Before you add any cover or laydowns, make sure it's legal to do so. Here in NY it's illegal put anything foreign in the reservoirs and many lakes.

Doc, be sure and get you a couple of big bags of fescue or some hardy grass seed after it's been pulled down. Plant lots of grass and let it grow!

The lake is actually owned by Ft. Bragg wildlife dept. and they say it's cool if I improve the lake so long as I don't add anything that's going to ruin the water or kill the fish. I volunteer my soldiers who are in trouble to them to clean up the lakes around Ft. Bragg. It's better than having them clean around the company area, which is spotless most of the time.
