I've fished them both a lot and have had much better luck with the sizmic, I've given up on the horny toad.

I wouldn't give up. I have thrown several brands, some I like the action of, rate of sink, how their legs move, etc. some I don't.

Try some out, and see what you like to throw and produces in your area. But I wouldn't give up after one try. And they don't take up too much space, carry a couple styles in case one isn't working.

I use Sizmics, my partner is Horny. Last year we each caught our personal bests on our respective toads. There's no science here, but it looks to us like there's not much difference in the baits' ability to draw strikes, as we are fishing these side by side and one guy is not doing significantly better than the other.

I use both and have had similar catch rates. I prefer the thinner bodied sizmic for hook ups. I just received the V&M bayou bullfrog, slightly longer, thickness is right in the middle between the two mentioned. This one actually has the bumps and dimples that a real frog has. Don't think that will make a difference, but hey it looks good. Will throw my 2 cents in on it after I use the thing for a while.

I have been having alot of luck with the brand RIBBIT frogs. I had 50 of them and went through them in two days. The only problem is that they get ripped up pretty good from the hook set.

I'm using Tiki Toad. The action is great! bit softer than Yum Buzz Frog, and 1/2" longer.

Frogs and there different FEET IMHO need to be utilized like a crankbait. Some of the newwer frogs are better at times and otheres better at other times. The Ribbit has been producing for me when I want the noisy action and the horny toad I use when I want a more subtle action. Havent used the sizmic yet but am looking forward to the new pack of Gambler Cane toads in the boat.

What are the favorable characteristics of the ribbit that make you choose them over other brands, I hadn't ever seen them till just now on a search

I like Gamblers best. I find that they have a better action and make more commotion.

JB et all. So far I have over 21 different types of toad-frog type baits. I will use them all when I am on vacation at the end of the month. I am still trying to get different brands. I know that it probably is crazy trying them all but it's something i just wanted to have fun with. RR those are probably the most foul smelling toads I've come across yet! I will try to post my results when I come back from vacation in August.

JB
Living in Louisiana we cet to fish lots of grass with many different toads. I prefer the Ribbit because of the noise and the true runnign of the bait. It sounds just like a buzz bait and has a great Garlic smell. I still use Horny Toads and Sizmic baits but I prefer the Ribbit above all. They have just come out with about 5 new colors also. Check the out, my favorite color is simple white or black.

JoeB - You went deep into the vault to pull this one out. Anyone change their minds after one year???? I still throw the horney toad over grass.
