Question about the heat
I live in a small town in IL that surrounds a lake that is approx. 4/5 mile wide and across and I was wondering, how does the heat effect the fish, do they swim out to the middle or the come in more? does it effect how they feed or their activity level? this week it'll be mid 90's but most of the time its low to high 80's.
Thanks |

they tend to go deep in temps like this...you'll always find the occasional fish on the bank, or many small ones, but generally in mid summer and 95 degrees, throw a senko to the deep part and dead stick it, let it sit a few minutes after a slow fall..

in high temps think winter -no joke- bass will hold up in currant areas adjasant to deep water. just like they do in the winter.. fish these areas very early or very late for the best bite.
this one was on a channel turn holding just off a 7 foot deep flat in 80 feet of water. tried to get pitures earlier of differant fish but they were mostly junk. this was the last decent one i caught today. look right next to the tail a 10" june bug worm.. the white thing just off my finger is a stern light from a cat fishing boat.. zooker

dead sticking is when you throw a bait(plastic or jig) out there and let it set, and waiting awhile till you move it slowly, verses casting out a worm and start working it back as soon as it hits bottom..this time of year a senko or tiki thrown to the deep and dead sticking is a effective method.

If I want to dead stick a Tiki Stick should I Texas rig it and bottom fish, or wacky rig and bottom fish it?

Striker-ever been out where it was too hot to move fast? Fish are the same way-in real hot as well as real cold water they get lethargic, so a slow moving lure will be more appealing to them.
